Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is a technology of physical, mental and spiritual discipline for developing strength, awareness and consciousness. Practitioners call Kundalini Yoga the yoga of awareness because it focuses on the expansion of sensory awareness and intuition in order to raise individual consciousness and merge with the Infinite Consciousness.

I am delighted to bring this yoga of awareness to you. Kundalini is the energy at the base of the spine coiled up like a snake and awaiting to be awakened while moving through the postures, bringing oneself in a state of heightened awareness that relaxes the mind and releases tensions and stress.

  • 1 KY strengthens the glandular and the nervous system, rejuvenates the organs and the skin and tones the muscles. Breathing and exercises clean the subtle energy channels so that Prana, the life force can move freely through the body. The exercises help to increase flexibility and strength and to improve overall health.
  • 2 Meditations calm the mind, help to focus and enable us to reach into the deeper layers of our life and being. Breathing, exercise and meditation are also effective tools to release stress and trauma and practicing these techniques balances body, mind and soul.


Kundalini Yoga is a science focussing on a specific outcome and the classes have a structure and sequence that is well defined and not to be altered by the teacher.

A regular class includes following sequence: tuning in with a mantra, breathing techniques, warm up postures, a kriya which is a specific set of exercises with a specific goal (e.g. kriya to awake the 10 bodies, kriya for the pituitary gland etc.), relaxation, mediation and finally tuning out with mantra.

The class lasts 1.5 hour and is often accompanied by kundalini yoga music or gong.

WHAT TO WEAR: Teachers are mostly dressed in white natural fibre clothing as white expands the auric radiance and absorbs all other colours. They also cover their head with a cloth to protect the sahasrara chakra on top of the head and to increase the focus while practicing. As student, you might choose to do so as well.

Q: Do I have to be flexible? Not really, flexibility will come while practicing.

Q: Do I need experience in yoga? Not needed. Depending on your level, this can be a class adjusted for beginners or advanced practitioners.

Q: How long does it take to see benefits?  Immediate: less stress, more self-awareness, body consciousness, flexibility, strength and overall wellbeing and happiness.

Q: How many yoga sessions would I need? A weekly session is great.
