CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on therapy treating the body holistically through the craniosacral system.
In the craniosacral system, the subtle movements of the cranial bones and the sacrum initiate a pumping action of the cerebrospinal fluid, that is formed in the brain ventricles. The fluid flows in and around the brain and spinal cord, providing nutrients and helping to cushion them from injury and trauma. The fluid is a crystal clear liquid and contains the most concentrated essence of nutritional substances in the body. In yogic paths it is called Amrit and channels Prana, Life Energy, and vibrations of higher consciousness.
The wave-like respiratory motion of the cerebrospinal fluid, the PRIMARY RESPIRATION or BREATH of LIFE, can be felt by the therapist. Patterns of inertia are identified and released through gentle touch.
WHY CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY?
CranioSacral Therapy can help with various health unbalances: headache, migraine, neck pain, backpain, jaw joint related disorders, intestinal and digestive complaints, sleep disorders, chronic fatigue, burn-out, stress, emotional problems, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
For a pregnant mama and newborn mama & baby, the gentle hands-on therapy is soothing and relaxing and helps to settle with breastfeeding issues and difficult sleeping. For new-borns, it helps with torticollis, plagiocephaly, tongue tie, stiff neck and shoulders, digestive and feeding issues.
For older children, this therapy can help to release trauma patterns, attention issues, learning difficulties, ADHD.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY SESSION?
While laying dressed on the treatment table, the therapist offers a light touch, to dissolve blockades on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. The blockades are caused by experiences in life. The therapist works from a neutral position with the intention to focus on providing absolute safety, so that resistance can be released on its own and simultaneously stimulate the body's own ability to restore itself. The therapist follows the perceptible body ‘waves’ which can be felt through the connective tissues.
Once the body experiences a deep rest, it will recover and ‘reset’ itself. This happens when the body stops functioning in alarm state or continuous nervous overdrive. For many of us this is daily reality because due to high stress levels, we can rarely feel completely and unconditionally safe.
Via CST the therapist creates again, or eventually for the first time, a security climate in which one can experience his unique authenticity and where the creative potential is stimulated thanks to the reclaimed space for the Breath of Life.
